Inkscape Tutorial: Adding a Drop Shadow

In this post, I am going to show you a quick tutorial on how to add a Drop Shadow to a logo or image using Inkscape.

We have talked about Inkscape before. It is a powerfull cross-platform graphic and image editing tool. I love it because it is free to download and you can use it to do many things. In the past, I showed you how to Create Instagram Posts. You can find a link to that post below:

Flat designs convey sleekness and modernity. However, sometime you may want to add a little bit of an extra ‘pop’ for your logo. A Drop Shadow is an easy way to achieve this.

Adding a drop shadow in Inkscape is as easy as:

  1. Selecting the image
  2. Going to Filters > Shadows and Glows > Drop Shadow

This should be easily achieved when working with a vector image. You may have to do a bit of cropping if the image has a background.
